Fallkniven

F1eaf

It is no secret that the Swedish Air Force has been using the F1 model as its official survival knife since 1995. However, what many do not know is how the sheath looks and where the knife is stored. For the first time ever (Dec. 2018), we can reveal images of this! The knife is kept in a specially designed plastic sheath inside a small leg pocket on the right thigh or wherever is most accessible in a confined position. The sheath is secured by a push button, and by pulling down the zipper, you can grasp the handle and draw the knife from the plastic lining.

It is important to note that in this configuration, the knife and sheath cannot be attached to a waist belt. Instead, it is designed for placement in a leg pocket—an approach less common in Nordic countries but widely used in Central Europe. Unlike our standard Zytel sheath, this sheath does not feature additional locking mechanisms but holds the knife securely through friction within the tight plastic lining.

See photos for reference on how the sheath is fastened, for example, in pilot suits. PLEASE NOTE: This specific pouch is not available for the civilian market. The images are for illustrative purposes only to show how it can be used.
